In our country in Philippines, I didn't hear any women talking about having a pap smear. I didn't have any single word to describe what the pap smear likes so when I heard my girlfriends in America talking that women need a pap smear once a year and because I'm so prideful that I don't want them to know that I'm very ignorant, I didn't ask them what is pap smear. So what I did is I scheduled my pap smear appointment and went there without knowing what will be the process like. So when the doctor told me to take off my clothes and just covered it with a piece of paper. I did follow it even if I'm not used to be naked in front of other people (was my second time to be naked to stranger-when I got my physical examination in Philippines and the day that I got my pap smear). Anyway, when the doctor went back to my room she told me to laid down, for my health sake I did and I was so nervous when they check my thing inside. Oh my gosh! I was so scared and my knees were shaking-which is not good because my muscles got tight and it was hard for them to finished what they are doing. So her assistant held my knees. I was treat like having my labor. lol. And the part that I never expect on that process was the time that she put her finger inside me. I was like "what in the world are you doing?" So when she asked me "if it feel tenders", I figured out that it's part of the process.
Anyway, my point is we need to gather information for the things that we never experienced in our past years before we proceed in able to know what to expect.
Ignorance it doesn't mean that you are dumb but it means lack of knowledge of a certain things. So we don't need to be ashamed to ask questions about the things that we don't know because no one knows everything.
